Fermée pour les vacances.....!

We went into Subiaco to have a French breakfast at a Bistro not long opened, I won't  mention it's name, because we arrived, moi desperate for my first coffee of the day (a little twitchy if you know what I mean !) to find that in typically European style they were 'fermée pour les vacances'..oh la! sacre bleu! When they reopen in a couple of weeks I will revisit! Thankfully Subiaco has many really good cafes and we walked (jogged?) across to Brew-Ha where I had the best espresso and blueberry tart ever, or so it seemed at the time haha! According to the write up the definition “brouhaha” has been adopted and then modernised to mean: “The ritual of consuming the highest quality teas and coffees, particularly while engaging in spirited debate.” Excellent name and ethos for a cafe don't you think! Hope you have a wonderful coffee, I mean weekend..take care and stay safe.....

  1. Darn Europeans. So lazy! Don't they care about customers at all?! :-) Well, it looks like you did not miss out, Grace. Brew-Ha can't be bad, with a terrace like this one... and if they throw in excellent coffee and spirited debate, too... These guys clearly understand cafés in the European tradition (minus the long summer vacation time...) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  11. What! No french brouhaha! This Aussie food on your photos looks pretty enticing though, albeit not being francais.

  26. Grace, your photos and notes never fail to cheer me up. Here I am starting another grey, damp English weekend, and already I've had a stroll on the beach and a lovely coffee and muffin - no calories either!

  27. Yummy! But I thought brouhaha referred to a bunch of high school kids fighting! Non? Have a great weekend and try to stay as cool as you are!

  29. Okay...that looks delish!!! But if you're French, you have to whisper when you talk and always face the streets to watch all the people walking past you. I had been there twice and found the cultural stuff really interesting. Americans are loud and rude and face each other while shouting across the table. In France, quiet, soft spoken.....and full of etiquette:)
